The Wantage Community First Responder Scheme is a local group set up by South Central Ambulance Service to provide emergency care within the community. The group currently consists of 11 members trained by the Ambulance Service to respond to medical emergencies before the arrival of an emergency ambulance.
The volunteers are dispatched to an incident if they are identified as the nearest available source by South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust's Communication Centre. An ambulance is always dispatched at the same time in order to ensure further patient assessment and treatment is received. However, for this to continue it is essential to ensure that the local community are aware of the scheme and support the services of the group wherever possible.

News - Many thanks!
Thanks to two very generous donations the group are now in the process of purchasing their sixth kit for the community. The Wantage and Grove Lions Club kindly donated £750 to the group and further costs were pledged by the Milton Hill based company Infineum..
The group continue to raise funds in the hope to purchase a vehicle to be used within the local community. The goal seems high but so too is the team's dedication and determination.
The team are continually aiming to recruit volunteers and all money raised provides the group with the necessary equipment required to support the local community.
